Skipper's Seafood Restaurant
About This Spot
Stepping into Skipper’s Seafood Restaurant feels like settling into a cherished corner of the community where time slows just enough to savor simple pleasures. Nestled along E US Hwy 64 in Thomasville, this spot carries the warm, welcoming hum of a family gathering place, where familiar faces and friendly service make every visit feel like coming home.
The atmosphere strikes a gentle balance — lively without being rushed, echoing the easy rhythms of a small-town favorite. It invites both locals and travelers alike to pause and enjoy moments that stretch beyond just a meal. There’s a relaxed confidence here, rooted in tradition and genuine care, where the attentive staff enhance rather than overshadow the experience.
At Skipper’s, the food doesn’t shout; it comforts. The kitchen serves up seafood in all its approachable glory, accompanied by the kind of sides and staples that evoke memories of family dinners around this part of North Carolina. Whether it’s the hush puppies that arrive warm and inviting before your main plate, or the golden fried catfish and shrimp that feel perfectly at home alongside a tall glass of iced tea or freshly made lemonade, each bite encourages you to take your time and enjoy the moment.
This is the kind of restaurant where you might find yourself lingering a little longer than planned — not just because of the generous portions or the fresh flavors, but because it’s a place that quietly understands the joy of sharing good food in good company. For anyone chasing a genuine local experience wrapped in comfort and care, Skipper’s stands as a quietly memorable choice.

Wow! Great customer service as well as food. We visited tonight so i had to leave a 5 star review. Awesome location, parking, and restaurant. We ordered couple different items. They served us with hush puppies before our order was ready which I regretted eating lol because i was stuffed when my food arrived so be mindful of that. The food was very mild in taste for me. I would take some spice sauces with me next time The server was so nice and generous. She came to out table like 5 times asking if we need anything. Must visit! I would drive to this skippers instead of the one in highpoint without a doubt.

On a long ride and wanted to get not fast food on the way. We agreed to Skipper's. We made the best choice. Plenty of great options. I got the baby flounder thing it would be a smaller portion. I was wrong it was just smaller filet and they gave me seven. The wife got the salad with shrimp it came in a large bowl. Needless to say you will leave with a doggie bag. Staff were good attentive and pleasant. My advice is try it you will not be disappointed.

Phenomenal hidden gem that is a staple and favorite for their community! My Husband & I had passed here about once a month or so for a year and always said we'd stop in if we ever had time during business hours; as it's about an hour West of his workplace. My Sweetheart surprised me and took me for my birthday! The free hush puppies while we waited for our dinner, were delicious! We both had fried platters; the large fantail shrimp scallops and crab cakes were off the charts!! Even their French fries were hot and yummy! The seating and service was quick, cozy, comfortable and our waitress was kind, helpful and prompt. The restaurant was decorated with sea life art and pictures and really pretty! The prices were very fair and much lower than average too! We definitely recommend dining here but hopefully not to bring in too many as it is now our go-to for seafood! Wish I had taken pictures..

For my first time, the seafood here is amazing, lots of options and very fresh tasting. The inside looked "cool", but I ordered and picked up instead. It seemed a bit pricey to me, but has been a while since I've ordered this type of seafood. I will go back to dine-in and share a different review.

Hate to give a good review because I don't want the secret place to get out but, my goodness this was the best food and service I have received from a restaurant in a long time. We live 2 hrs from the restaurant and I was hoping that it was worth the drive. It was delicious. Perfection. The fan tailed shrimp could have used a little more spice but it was so good. The scallop's melted in your mouth. This is our new favorite seafood place. Defiy will abe back. Thank you for the great dinner and service. Too notch.

Fantastic meal. Excellent staff and kitchen working overtime to serve multiple large parties as well as my husband and I. Good portions. Great value for price. Will definitely visit again.

I never give five stars. Never. I always say there’s some way to improve, and give fours at the most. I can’t say that for Skipper’s Seafood. When you pull into the parking it’s full even at odd hours, as we arrived before normal dinner hours. They have the nautical rope and wooden post fencing on the outside, which sets a tone, but going in is mind blowing. Upon entering the foyer you are whisked away from the everyday and transported into a nautical wonderland by the wall murals. They are incredible! We went into the restaurant itself and the walls were all decorated in the same fashion, including murals of an ocean-front town, fishing vessels, lighthouses, and underwater scenes of lost treasure and a submarine. Our waitress, Miss Donna, was as incredible as the murals. She was friendly, patient, and more than just polite-she was nice. She had a ready smile and willingly explained the differences in menu items. I can honestly say that if she wasn’t the best waitress/waiter I’ve ever had, then she was without a doubt top three. Smiles cost nothing, and friendliness begets friendliness-and she had both in spades. And then there’s the food. Maaan, the food. It was out in no time, which is amazing in itself. The cost to portion was fair, and before tonight I’ve never had fried food where I didn’t need to hide the flavor in ketchup or another condiment. I didn’t need or WANT condiments for the food at Skipper’s-it was THAT GOOD. I’ve never eaten somewhere where it was amazing in all three areas-environment, staff and food. Skipper’s nailed all three. This was truly an enjoyable experience and we will definitely be back next time we are in the area. Honestly, I’d drive an hour out of the way to get the experience again. Yeah, it’s that good.
